Dog Days of August
The OSU Urban Arts Space is going to the dogs this month! Come to the
OSU Urban Arts Space, 50 W Town St in the historic Lazarus building downtown,
on Wednesdays at noon for our Dog Days of August programs.

Wednesday, Aug 6, noon-1pm, Brown Bag
Word Works, an OSU Libraries ReadAloud Program with Charlene Fix
This reading about dogs is our first ReadAloud Program presented in conjunction
with OSU Libraries. Bring your lunch, sit back and listen
to author Charlene Fix read one of Thurber's dog stories and share her
own poetic reflections on dogs. Charlene Fix is a professor of English
at the Columbus College of Art Design and a member of the House of Toast
Poets.

Screen Works: The Wonderful World of Dogs
See a women whose Chihuahua is carried off by a hungry pelican...and
a dog with a sixth sense... The Wonderful World of Dogs explores the
myths, obsessions and wide variety of attitudes people harbor about our
four-legged friends by introducing a few of the barkers, bullies and
roamers that make up the canine population.

Word Works with Michael Rosen Why we Love the Dogs we Love
Hear a reading by Michael J. Rosen, author of many books about our canine
companions, including a new collection of heartfelt essays, Dogs We Love,
by Edward Albee, Ann Beattie, Armistead Maupin, Jane Smiley and 14 other
great writers. Bring a picture of your dog, and Michael can do a quick
portrait of your companion in a copy of the book with purchase.

Special Dog Adoption Event
Round out our Dog Days of August with a dog event starring real dogs.
You've seen them, you know them and you love them; now adopt one --or
at least take a look! Join us for an adoption event and give a dog a "furever" home.
